It’s Thanksgiving once again and the BIG kickoff to the end of the year holidays! I’m thankful that BookTree is still part of the Kirkland community. This is because of YOU! Thanks for patronizing the store, thanks for telling others about the store.
For the holidays we have many recently published recommended books. We have put out the best of the gently-used books we have onto our shelves. There is still time for you to order books that we don’t have on the shelves — usually I get books within a few days of ordering.
BookTree Gift Certificates or setting up a House Account makes an excellent gift for the book lover in your life. I want everyone to find and read a good book or at least find and really like the book they have chosen to read. You don’t always know what book appeals to someone or what they might feel like reading in the very near future: so giving a Gift Certificate lets them wander around a place they should really like to be in — an old fashioned bookstore!!!
Some of my favorite books these last few months are: Sun House (novel) by David James Duncan; Fever in the Heartland (non-fiction) by Tim Egan, The Art Thief: A True Story of Love, Crime, and a Dangerous Obsession by Michael Finkel (our December Book Club book), Her Deadly Game (the 1st book in a new series) by Robert Dugoni, There’s the Pulitzer-Prize winning Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, and the clever funny The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz (and 3 sequels so far) to name a few. And there are books for young adults, young readers and toddlers too!!! I am always happy to talk books with you.
Hopefully, you have heard about the BookTree GoFundMe campaign. It is to raise money to create a reserve so that when the next hiccup happens it can be absorbed without causing too much of a financial hardship. Details on the BookTree GoFundMe are here . It is really important to let others know about the GoFundMe campaign so that occasional customers and independent bookstore lovers can help if they are so inclined. It will help many more people know about BookTree and the campaign. Thank YOU!
