Author Event... Diane Gillespie’s Stories for Getting Back to Sleep includes 16 different sleep scenarios that you can use to increase your natural sleep. She will discuss new research on sleep and its importance for wellbeing, read one of the sleep scenarios and teach you how to use it so that you don’t have to turn on a light. Participants will receive a resource sheet of nonpharmacological strategies for getting adequate natural sleep. Bring your pillows and wear comfy clothes!
Bio: Educational psychologist Diane Gillespie, PhD is a lifelong writer and lover of books who retired from university teaching in 2012. She volunteers for the nonprofit Tostant, an organization offering a human rights based nonformal education program in West Africa. She studies how people learn and how that learning changes them and those around them. In the last several years she has studied the importance of sleep and has written a book of sleep scenarios designed to help adult readers get back to sleep. It's part of the exciting movement to treat sleep disorders through cognitive behavior therapy. This work has changed the way she sleeps and engaged her with audiences who have struggled with sleep in the middle of the night. She donates all procceds for the book to Tostan. Diane lives in Seattle and enjoys spending time with her children and their families.
